Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have agreed on the categorical prohibition to use weapons at the border against civilians after the deadly incident on the border between the two countries, except in cases of threat to life and health of military personnel provided by the legislation of the two countries, the official website of the Government of Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, both sides inspected the place of the incident named Mamay, where on April 7 in the use of weapons by border guards of Uzbekistan was wounded by a citizen of Kyrgyzstan.

As a result of the meeting, a joint working group of representatives of the border agencies of two countries, also heads of district administrations, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and registration (cadastral) services of border territories was established to conduct a comprehensive and objective investigation of the incident.

An agreement was reached to consider the emerging problem issues on joint sections of the state border in the spirit of good-neighbourly and friendly relations.

The parties also agreed to hold in April a joint expanded meeting of border agencies, which is planned to discuss issues of cross-border cooperation.

Recall, on April 7, Uzbek servicemen used weapons against a resident of the village of Kurulush, who was on the territory of Kyrgyzstan and was heading towards the settlement of Mamay. The Kyrgyz died in the hospital.
