January 24, 2019 at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has held a round table on the theme “Climate change in Kazakhstan: vulnerability and resilience”. In the a round table took part His Excellency, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Philippe Martiné, experts in the climate change fields (RSE "Kazhydromet", LLP "Institute of Geography", U.M. Sultangazin Institute for Space Research), as well as scientists of the Meteorology and Hydrology Department, reports the press service of KazNU.
The Rector of the University, Academician G.M. Mutanov, who noted the relevance of the topic of the round table and expressed deep appreciation to the French Republic, for the active support of international efforts to prevent a catastrophic rise in temperature in the Earth’s atmosphere.
His Excellency, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Philippe Martine, during his report spoke about the attractiveness of France, the importance of the topic under discussion, as well as the possibilities of student exchange within the framework of academic mobility in the area climate change.
During the round table, experts discussed current trends in climate change in Kazakhstan, risk factors and measures to increase resistance to them.
According to the results of the round table, it has recommended to improve the quality of researches works, to develop international cooperation, exchange of ideas, participation in joint research projects, and the creation of the Kazakhstan-France scientific and technical center on the basis of KazNU.
