Ambassadors of Western countries intend to receive full information about the revolt in the Khujand colony on Tuesday at a meeting with representatives of the Foreign Ministry and the Prosecutor General of Tajikistan.
This was announced by Kevin Covert, after a conversation between Western diplomats and human rights defenders from the Coalition of Civil Society Against Torture and Impunity in Tajikistan, which took place on November 19 at the British Embassy in Dushanbe.
During the riot in Khujand colony N 3/3, according to unofficial data, about 50 people died, dozens of prisoners were injured. Six guards of the colony were taken to hospital.
According to Kevin Covert, at a meeting with representatives of the Foreign Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan, which will be held on November 20, Western diplomats intend to receive answers to their questions about the rebellion in Khujand. “We are going to call on Dushanbe to properly investigate this riot and punish officials who violated the rights of prisoners", - noted Covert.
Recall, earlier, it was repored that in the north of Tajikistan, several people died while suppressing a riot of prisoners in a strict regime colony located in the 16th district of the city of Khudjand. Riots in prison began on the night of November 8.
