The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat, reports Uzbek MFA.
The Minister conveyed warm greetings and sincere congratulations of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the President and fraternal people of Turkmenistan in connection with successful conduction of the first Caspian Economic Forum, which was attended by Uzbekistan delegation led by the Prime Minister of the country.
Key issues on bilateral agenda and promising areas for further development of Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan multifaceted ties were discussed at the meeting.
Besides, it was noted that thanks to strong political will of the leaders of the two countries, an unprecedented intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan is observed today. According to the results of the first half of the year, the trade turnover amounted to 257 million US dollars, which is 2.8 times more than the figure for the same period of the previous year.
In addition, two parties also exchanged views on cooperation within the UN, the CIS, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and other global and regional organizations.
