Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Hungary Mihaly Varga visited Kazakhstan in the framework of the Kazakhstan-Hungarian Business and Investment Forum held on April 29, 2019, reports Kazakh MFA.
The event was attended by over 150 representatives of business circles of both countries, including around 100 Hungarian businessmen.
The forum presented investment opportunities and the export potential of Kazakhstan, the advantages of joint cooperation and prospects for further promoting trade and economic partnership between the two countries. As a result, 10 cooperation agreements were signed.
Businesspeople from Kazakhstan and Hungary held a number of bilateral meetings in the framework of the event. Cooperation in the field of the agro-industrial complex, light and food industry, construction, chemical industry and mechanical engineering was discussed.
Currently, there are more than 60 enterprises with the participation of Hungarian capital operating in Kazakhstan. Since Kazakhstan's independence, Hungary invested approximately 200 million US dollars in the local economy.
In addition, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Hungary between 2018 and the 1st quarter of 2019 amounted to 155.4 million US dollars. Exports from Kazakhstan to Hungary for 2018–2019 reached 28.2 million US dollars. Import to Kazakhstan from Hungary for last year and the start of this year amounted to 127.2 million US dollars.
