The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev particapated in the opening ceremony of the Year of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan, reports Akorda.

During the openning ceremony, The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Uzbek people for their warm welcome and hospitality.

"We are united by a single language, religion, common history and one fate. Our peoples are the heirs of the ancient and great civilization of Central Asia. We have preserved the traditions, values and cultural heritage of the ancestors, having passed through many fateful trials together", - said Head of state.

Moreover, Tokayev noted that the strategic partnership and the fruitful cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were a logical continuation of the historical friendship that reached an even higher level at the present stage.

In his turn, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the event is a symbol of the eternal and sincere friendship, cultural and spiritual community of the two peoples.

"The Year of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan testifies to the dynamically developing strategic partnership, the growing confidence, mutual support, the inseparability of the bonds between our two countries. This momentous event is also a symbol of the eternal and sincere friendship, cultural and spiritual community of the two peoples", - stressed Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In addition, the President of Kazakhstan noted about the measures taken to support the Uzbek diaspora in Kazakhstan. He said that more than 200 joint events were held in the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan. Besides, he mentioned that Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan intend to increase volume of mutual trade to 5 billion dollars by 2020.

Recall, the opening ceremony of the Year of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan took place on April 15 at Uzbekistan Palace of International Forums. Also, famous Kazakh singers, such as, Alibek Dinishev, Aiman Musakhodzhayeva, Medet Shotabayev, Dimash Kudaibergenov, Mariya Mudryak performed in the festive ceremony.
