The Parliament of Kazakhstan approved a bill to rename Astana.

"43 deputies of the Senate, 103 deputies of Majilis voted for renaming capital of Kazakhstan to Nursultan.  Thus, dear colleagues, a historic decision was made", - noted Nurlan Nygmatulin, Chairman of the Majilis, at a joint meeting of the Chambers of Parliament.

In addition, it should be noted that todya during the ceremony of taking oath, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, suggested renaming Astana in honor of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Besides, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to name the central streets of the cities in the name of Nursultan Nazarbayev. He also noted that the portraits of the First President of Kazakhstan in buildings and offices will not be taken.

Recall, it should be noted that yesterday, the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke to the people of Kazakhstan on the air of republican TV channels, stating that he resigns from the presidency.
