More than 39 thousand people are in prison in Kazakhstan

39,219 people are in prison in Kazakhstan. This was conducted by the International Center for Prison Studies (ICPS).

According to the statics of the reserach company, there are 133, 426 prisoners in Central Asia. Uzbekistan is leading in the number of prisoners — 43,900. Tajikistan has a small number of prisoners - 9,317 people. Moreover, 10,574 people are serving their sentences in prisons of Kyrgyzstan and there are 30,452 prisoners in Turkmenistan.
