Uzbekistan intends to complete construction of four hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 30 MW within five years. This is stated in the program of the Governmental Water Management System Development by 2024.
In addition, 16 new small hydropower stations will be built and 21 stations will be repaired.
Uzbekistan will allocate 2,6 billion dollars for these projects, of which 600 million will be credited by the republic.
According to the plan, Uzbekistan generates over 2,8 billion kWh of electricity annually. Thus, the number of stations under "UzbekHydroEnergo" will reach 57, with a capacity of 9,3 billion kW.
