On November 27, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in Switzerland to attend the International Conference on Afghanistan, met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva Michael Møller.
At the meeting, prospects for strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN in various fields were discussed, primarily in implementation of Uzbekistan’s initiatives forwarded at the General Assembly of the organization.
Michael Møller shared his impressions of participation on November 22-23 at the Asian Forum on Human Rights in Samarkand, emphasizing the absolute importance of its results not only for Uzbekistan, but also for the entire region.
Uzbekistan’s contribution to strengthening the foundations of the UN – security, development and human rights in the context of comprehensive reforms in the country and strengthening ties with neighboring states carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was noted.
Views were exchanged on the agenda of the International Conference on Afghanistan.
