On November 15, 2018, a regular round of Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan inter-MFA political consultations was held in Bishkek, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova conducted a thorough review of the state and prospects of strengthening bilateral relations, exchanged views on current issues of interaction within international and regional organizations.
The sides paid special attention to the schedule and agenda of upcoming contacts at the highest and high levels, which are key components of dynamic development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Gradual growth of bilateral trade, which in 2017 and 2018 increased by almost 50% was noted with satisfaction.
The first meeting of the Council of khokims of border regions of Uzbekistan and plenipotentiary representatives of the Government of Kyrgyzstan in border regions with participation of prime ministers held on March 29-30, 2018 allowed to intensify horizontal ties in trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres of the regions. The second meeting is scheduled for December this year.
The parties welcomed the widespread celebration in both countries of the 90th anniversary of the great writer Chingiz Aytmatov’s birth, which became a bright event in the life of Uzbek and Kyrgyz people.
