During a UN Security Council meeting, the delegation of Kazakhstan declared its commitment to the advancement of multilateralism, and called on all nations to unite in the creation of a global order and a secure world based on respect for international law, and the principles and objectives of the UN Charter, reports the official website of Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
The meeting, devoted to issues of multilateral cooperation, was held on 9 November at the initiative of China, which is presiding over the Security Council this month. Discussions of multilateral cooperation have been a key theme at the United Nations this year, including during the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.
The Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN Kanat Tumysh, in his speech, recalled the Manifesto of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev “Peace. XXI Century ”, calling for world leaders to work jointly for the establishment of a fair economic and social world order, as well as to put an end to conflicts, terrorism and eliminate weapons of mass destruction by the 100th anniversary of the UN.
“Challenges such as unresolved conflicts, protracted wars, terrorism, extremism, poverty, disease, illegal migration and climate change are beyond the scope of any particular nation. These problems are exacerbated by unpredictable regional and global insecurity, erosion of international legal norms, external interventions, proxy wars and the threat of the use of WMD,” the Kazakh representative noted.
At the same time, he emphasised the importance of strengthening the principles governing international coexistence, namely global governance, common responsibility and collective action.
