Kazakhstan and China have agreed to jointly address the problem of ethnic Kazakhs in Xinjiang

On November 9, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov received Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, strategic partnership, trade and economic relations. In addition, the parties noted that the Kazakh diaspora in China is a "bridge of friendship" between Kazakhstan and China, and agreed that issues relating to the protection of rights and interests of ethnic Kazakhs in Xinjiang will be solved on the basis of mutual trust, good neighborliness and respect.

In recent years, ethnic Kazakhs in China have been under pressure from local authorities.
