On November 8, 2018, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Special Representative of the President for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev attended “Joint vision for Afghanistan” international conference, held in the European Parliament, in Brussels, reports the official website of Uzbek government.
The conference was attended by members of the European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission, mass media and diplomatic missions accredited to the EU, Belgium and other international organizations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, issues of security, peace and state-building, international assistance to development of Afghanistan, reconstruction and regional cooperation were discussed at the forum.
Member of the European Parliament, Chair of the delegation for relations with Afghanistan Petras Auštrevičius delivered a welcoming speech.
In his speech, head of Uzbekistan delegation focused on results of high-level international conference held on March 26-27, 2018 in Tashkent and special Declaration adopted by consensus. It was noted that Uzbekistan consistently strengthens bilateral relations with Afghanistan and is actively implementing a number of important infrastructure projects for country's socio-economic development.
Ismatulla Irgashev focused on initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on promoting the launch of inter-Afghan political process and training personnel for peaceful Afghanistan.
