National Bank Chairman of Tajikistan Jamshed Nurmukhammadzoda reported that the decline in labour migrant remittances have had a significant impact on the country's economy. As stated by him, the current situation forced to refuse financing of additional projects.
“Due to the financial crisis, the inflow of investments into the economy has decreased, which negatively affected the activities of banks. On the other hand, the reduction in the volume of remittances of labor migrants also had a negative impact", - said Nurmukhammadzoda.
Before this, international financial institutions have repeatedly stated that the economy of Tajikistan, including the country's banking system, depends on the volume of remittances from labour migrants.
