The Government of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a grant agreement in the amount of $10 million to support the country in dealing with natural disasters, reports the bank.

“The grant agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Fayziddin Kahhorzoda and Permanent Representative of the Asian Bank in Tajikistan Pradeep Srivastava,” the message reads.

The project to support the country's efforts to integrate disaster management issues into development planning, create an integrated information system and an early warning system; an institutional strengthening plan and a 5-year business plan for CoES were developed and implemented.

The project will also help develop a 9-year investment plan (2022-2030) and recommendations for a viable disaster management financing mechanism to ensure sustainable funding and long-term participation of the government and development partners in addressing the country's natural disasters challenges.

The total cost of the project is $ 11 million, while the Government of Tajikistan allocates 1 million. It is expected that the project will be completed in 2024.
