The Deputy of Supreme Council Kenzhebek Bokoev drew the Kyrgyzstan government's attention to the country's water reservoirs and he suggested selling water to neighboring countries, especially to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
"Two thousand hectares of land were flooded in the Kirov water in the district Talas. Around 90% of the water reservoir is used by Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan free of charge. The authorities of country should consider to receive money from them," told Bokoev.
Recall, it is worth to note that Kirov water reservoir in Talas district was built in 1975 in the middle of the Manas and Kara-Buura districts. It can have 550 million cubic meters of water. Kyrgyzstan uses only 12 percent of it. The rest of it are being used by Kazakhstan under the agreement.
In addition, Kazakhstan annually allocates 70 million tenge (194,000 dollar) to the reservoir for water use and repairs. However, the government of Kyrgyzstan thinks that this is insufficient.
