A 19-year-old student from Kazakhstan has been arrested in Hong Kong, writes Thestandnews local newspaper.

Nukpi Abilkaiyr, 19, is a student at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. On November 17, the police stormed the campus, then a Kazakh student was detained. He is suspected of storing a Molotov cocktail - a gas bomb. In addition, he was wounded his right hand.

Bloomberg reporter Aaron Mc Nicholas wrote on his Twitter page that Abylkaiyr is a student at the Baptist University of Hong Kong. A hearing of his case is scheduled for January 15. The Embassy of Kazakhstan is helping Abilkaiyr.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, a first-year student at the Baptist University of Hong Kong was detained on November 18. He was visited by the Kazakh consul:

"His health condition is stable. He has no complaints. The Consulate General of Kazakhstan has taken special control of the case. Diplomats will monitor the observance of the rights of our citizen".

The Foreign Ministry added that preliminary hearings on his case were held today. Now diplomats are looking for a criminal lawyer. Recently, more than four thousand people have been detained in Hong Kong and, due to mass arrests, there is a shortage of lawyers.

The Foreign Ministry again said that they strongly recommend that all students studying in Hong Kong return to Kazakhstan.
