Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy commented on the current situation with providing the population with coal. The department claims that deficit of coal in any of the regions of Kazakhstan is not observed.
"The disseminated video about the allegedly large queues on deadlocks and clashes of trucks is fake and does not apply now. At the same time, we inform that the Ministry of Energy conducts daily monitoring of coal supplies to the regions in conjunction with regional government and JSC NC ‘Kazakhstan Temir Zholy’. This issue is under control, "the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.
According to him, in 2017 the country produced 106.7 million tons of coal, which is 8.2 million tons higher than in 2016. Only 29.3 million tons of coal were exported - the rest was left for domestic consumption. Power-generating enterprises of Kazakhstan shipped 56.3 million tons - 7.1 million tons more than in 2016.
"Per operational data, coal production amounted to 8.6 million tons as of January 30. Shipment of coal for household needs amounted to 763.8 thousand tons of coal, which is about 72% compared to the same period last year.
