“September 28, Uzbekistan and the United States signed a grant agreement for the implementation of development goals, under which the US side to allocate up to $ 50 million to support education sector reform in Uzbekistan over the next five years,” the ministry’s press service reads.
This is the first bilateral agreement between the governments of the United States and Uzbekistan on a development grant, which involves long-term support by the American side of the education sector in Uzbekistan. The document provides for the provision of the first tranche in the amount of $ 19.5 million.
“Activities financed in accordance with this agreement will be implemented to improve the results of teaching reading and mathematics in elementary school, the use of information technology and teaching the English language,” the message reports.
