The city won the right to host the exhibition in competition with the largest cities in Asia. Over the past 68 years, the event is being held for the first time outside the Asia-Pacific region. More than 1000 representatives of the tourism industry from 60 countries of the world take part in the exhibition, the local government's website reports.
Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Sports B. Temirbolat noted that Kazakhstan has established a visa-free regime with 63 countries, with each year increasing the number of flights connecting the country with world capitals.
In his speech, akim of the city A. Kulginov emphasized that three main directions of development of the tourism industry in the capital were identified. The first is event tourism: recently, the world hosted the ice hockey championship in the capital, the first Central Asian festival Comic Con 2019, IRON MAN 70.3 World Championship Wrestling. The second direction is medical tourism. Of the 7 organizations accredited by JCI, 6 are in the capital. The third direction is the capital - the congress and exhibition center of Eurasia. More than 70 events are held annually, almost a quarter are business events.
