Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan considered a law on changing the age of marriage for girls, local media reported.
The adoption of this law is expected after a second review by deputies. Under the new rules, girls will be allowed to marry only from the age of 18.
Currently, in Uzbekistan, the marriage age for girls is 17 years, and for men is 18 years. Last year in Uzbekistan, 5123 girls entered into marriage with 17 years.
