In recent, 20 people - 16 men and 4 women returned from Syria to Kazakhstan. They have been detained on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities. This was announced by the head of the department of the National Security Committee, Bakhytbek Rakhymberdiev.
According to the representative of the National Security Committee, the detainees allegedly acted on the side of ISIL "They have already been transferred to the places of investigation of criminal cases in the cities of Nur-Sultan, Atyrau, Aktobe, Uralsk, Karaganda and Shymkent. Decisions on taking them under arrest were made", - noted Rakhymberdiyev
Recall, it should be noted that on May 7 and 9, 231 Kazakhstani citizens were evacuated from Syria, including 156 children, mostly of pre-school age. They, together with their mothers, are accommodated in a special adaptation center near Aktau and will stay there for about a month.
