The age of marriage for girls will increase from September 1 in Uzbekistan, reports the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

“From September 1, 2019, the age of marriage for men and women will be 18 years,”  As noted, the age of marriage for boys and girls will be equalized. According to the ministry, a presidential decree “On additional measures to further strengthen the guarantees of the rights of the child” was adopted.

Recall, now, under the current legislation (Art. 15 of the Family Code) of Uzbekistan, girls have the right to marry from the age of 17, and boys from 18 years.
