A meeting between the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan has taken place. The Kazakh delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister GalymzhanKoishybayev, and the Uzbek delegation was led by First Deputy Foreign Minister IlkhomNematov. Both sides discussed a wide range of issues spanning the fields of politics, trade, economics, culture and humanitarian assistance, as well as the interaction of Astana and Tashkent within the framework of international and regional structures. It is reported by the press service of MFA.
During the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Beibut Atamkulov also met with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan IlkhomNematov.
“Uzbekistan is our brotherly country, a key political and economic partner in the region," the Kazakh Foreign Minister stated. The priority for the foreign ministries should be to fully implement the agreements reached by Presidents Nursultan Nazarbayev and ShavkatMirziyoyev focused on the comprehensive strengthening of bilateral cooperation. In 2018, bilateral trade grew by over 25 percent and amounted to 2.5 billion USD.
The Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of proper preparation of upcoming events at the highest level, primarily the second Working (Consultative) Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States in Tashkent, as well as the solemn launch of the Year of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan.
