The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EU amounted to 37,7 billion dollars in 2018, with the EU accounting for approximately 50 percent of Kazakh trade, reports the press service of Kazakh MFA.
The volume of foreign direct investments attracted from the EU to the Kazakh economy in the first half of 2018 reached 12,3 billion dollars. At present, 24 investment projects, cumulatively worth approximately 3 billion dollars, are being implemented in Kazakhstan with the participation of European companies.
Recall, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Beibit Atamkulov had meeting with Peter Burian, European Union (EU) Special Representative for Central Asia. Atamkulov and Burian discussed the need to not only maintain these volumes, but also to increase them. In addition, during the meeting, the parties noted the political and economic processes in Central Asia, which in recent years have been characterised by increased interactions and which open up new prospects for cooperation across a range of mutually beneficial partnerships.
In this regard, the implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union (EPCA) is anticipated this year, which will open new areas of bilateral cooperation.
