Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom are interested in implementing joint socio-economic projects in Afghanistan, Trend reports referring to the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.
The statement was made during the Uzbek-British consultations with the participation of special representative of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev and United Kingdom Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Gareth Bailey.
The sides exchanged views on the development of the situation in Afghanistan and the region, the efforts being made to launch the inter-Afghan negotiation process.
Special attention was paid to important areas of cooperation in the framework of the implementation of the Tashkent Declaration, adopted on March 27, 2018 at the international conference on Afghanistan "Peace Process, Security and Regional Cooperation".
The British side noted the support of the international community for the consistent actions of Uzbekistan to promote the peace process with the participation of all the internal Afghan political forces.
The sides expressed interest in implementing joint infrastructure, cultural, humanitarian and educational projects in Afghanistan.
