The office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tajikistan holds a film festival on migration in Dushanbe, the Avesta news agency reports.
The Third World Film Festival on Migration (WFFM) is held in more than 100 countries around the world by the International Organization for Migration - the UN Migration Agency. The festival is dedicated to the International Migrant Day, which is celebrated annually on December 18th.
According to the IOM office in the Republic of Tajikistan, in Tajikistan the festival opened the day before, on December 6, with the screening of the documentary film “On the Same Boat”, which tells about human stories related to the migration crisis in the Mediterranean.
Other film screenings, as part of the festival in Tajikistan, will continue early next year. The schedule and locations of the planned film shows in 2019 will be additionally announced on the IOM Tajikistan. This year, the festival presents feature films and documentaries that seek to reflect the opportunities and challenges of migration, also the unique contribution made by migrants to their new communities. The purpose of the festival is to open the way for more active discussion of one of the greatest phenomena of our time.
