The updated program of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Tajikistan for 2019-2021 is aimed at supporting the development of roads and energy, the private sector, education, health, food security and municipal infrastructure.
“Indicative financial assistance within the framework of the 3-year operating business plan approved recently amounts to over $ 300 million, all on a grant basis,” the bank reports in a press conference in Dushanbe.
However, the final size will depend on the country's achievements and the availability of ADB funds.
“This operational business plan is consistent with the current ADB partnership strategy with the country and national development priorities,” said Pradip Srivastava, Permanent Representative of ADB in Tajikistan.“To address the challenges and emerging needs of the country, ADB is open to partnership and co-financing with other multilateral and bilateral organizations,” he stressed.
The indicative investment plan includes projects to rehabilitate key road corridors, support the development of the financial sector, further develop the energy sector, including supporting sector reforms and improving infrastructure, also improving water management.
