Passports and identity cards in Kazakhstan are planned to be issued in Latin script, reports the website of the electronic government of Kazakhstan.

“To ensure the issuance of passports, ID cards of a citizen of Kazakhstan and other documents in the state language based on the Latin script. The deadlines for execution are 2021-2025,” the draft plan of measures for the phased translation of the Kazakh alphabet into the Latin script until 2025 says.

The transition to the Latin script in Kazakhstan to hold in three stages: the first stage 2018-2020, the second stage 2021-2023, the third stage 2024-2025.
