Kazakh families who relocated from China, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang) to Almaty,  asked to help to release their relatives in China.

They went to German Consulate in Almaty and wrote a letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In their letter, Kazakh families asked a help to release their families who are in China currently. Representative of Consulate let only two people to enter the building and received the  letter.

Dozens of people gathered in front of German Consulate in Almaty, asked for their relatives in China to be freed from "political centers of learning" and appealed to the Kazakh authorities and international human rights organizations in order to help release them. Some of their relatives have been arrested for several years. According to them, prisoners are imams and teachers.

Recall, it should be noted that it was known since April 2017 that  local Kazakhs have been under pressure in China. During the last World Congress of Kazakhs held in Astana last year, European Kazakh Omirkhan Altyn raised this issue to President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
