The main tasks and importance of the upcoming 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana on October 10-11 were presented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov at the ministerial meeting of the “Group of Friends” of the UN Alliance of Civilizations at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, reports the official website of the Ministry of Foreign affairs of Kazakhstan 

“The forthcoming congress will be devoted to the role of religious leaders in maintaining a safe world. We are counting on the spiritual leaders to achieve meaningful results for the sake of building trust and mutual respect, fighting religious extremism and building a safe world", - noted Kairat Abdrakhmanov at the meeting.

Moreover, he informed about the participation in the forum of religious and political leaders, leaders of international organizations and representatives of civil society.

The head of the Alliance of Civilizations, high representative Nasir Abdulaziz al-Nasser said during the meeting that he would take part in the 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana as special envoy of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
