If by the end of 2020 the proportion of Kazakhstanis aged 65 and over is 7%, our country will be included in the list of countries with an ageing population, said Senator Byrganym Aitimova.
"Kazakhstan is beginning to grow old. According to the UN classification, if the number of citizens aged 65 and above is 7%, then such a society is considered to be aging, "B.Aitimova said.
According to her, in Kazakhstan, the share of elderly people in this category is 6.6%. And by the end of 2020, the figure could reach already more than 7% and reach 7.4%.
"So in a couple of years our country can replenish the lists of states where there is an aging process," she concluded.
