In Kazakhstan, the mortality of infants under the age of one year increased by 1.3%. For the first half of the year, the death of infants was 1,626 people, according to statistic of Ministry of National Economics.
The main cause of infant mortality is the conditions that arise in the perinatal period, from which in January-June 2018, 782 babies or 48.1% of the total number of deaths among infants died. The number of infants died from congenital anomalies was 328 or 20.2%, respiratory diseases 124 or 7.6%, infectious and parasitic diseases 86 infants or 5.3% and accidents, poisoning and trauma 73 or 4.5%.
In January-June 2018, the infant mortality rate was 8.44 cases per 1000 births.
