For the last 5 years, 47 thousand firearms, 250 explosive devices and 1,7 million firearms-ammunition were purchased from citizens of Kazakstan. This was announced today at a press conference in Astana. According to him, 38 thousand citizens who brought their weapons was paid 1 billion 418 million tenge ($ 4,43 million) for voluntary surrender of illegal weapons.
According to the representative of Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of crimes committed by firearms reduced by 44,8%. A similar project has begun in the country since April 10. Those who voluntarily handed their weapons will be paid from 10 to 100 monthly calculation indices. It should be noted that the amount of payment depends on the type and technical condition of the weapon.
"The person who voluntarily handed over illegal weapons will not be subjected to administrative or criminal liability. The firearms, ammunition and explosive devices will be accepted by each regional body to be considered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs", - noted M.Baibolov.
