The representative of the Ministry of Defense in the Mission of Kazakhstan to the UN Colonel Yerulan Akylbayev told this to the UN News Service.
Colonel Akylbaev announced plans to expand the participation of servicemen from Kazakhstan in UN peacekeeping operations.
"Kazakhstan has sent military observers to the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara and Cote d'Ivoire since 2014. As of today, 15 of our officers have fulfilled their mission with honour, have returned, continue to conduct peacekeeping activities, conduct courses. to send our contingent of 170. Now coordination work is also underway, " said Yerulan Akylbaev.
In what country Kazakhstan intends to send a contingent, it is still unknown: they are negotiating with other states, considering options for joint deployment.
