Agriculture accounts for about a quarter of the country's GDP and nearly three quarters of the population live in rural areas. However, the rural economy is prone to structural problems, especially in the area of natural resource management and entrepreneurship.
Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Mr. Neven Mimitsa, said: “With these new investments of € 59 million, we will help people in rural Tajikistan use their natural resources and increase resilience to extreme climatic conditions. This will benefit the communities themselves and everyone us".
In addition, the European Union to contribute to increasing the competitiveness of business, strengthening natural resource management and the sustainable and efficient use of water resources.
