The allocated funds are implemented by the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan in cooperation with three microfinance organizations under the Project on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in the Aral Basin.
According to Solidzhon Mirzoyev, an environmental specialist under the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan, about 2,800 subprojects are being implemented under the ministry to adapt agriculture to the effects of climate change: on seed production, growing varieties of seeds resistant to droughts and diseases. , gardening, construction of greenhouses, drilling and others.
“Only 20 projects are now aimed at drilling wells in more vulnerable areas of Sogd Oblast — Istaravshan, Zafarabad, and B. Gafurov,” he said.
Another project, according to Solijon Mirzoyev, which is being implemented in support of the agricultural farm in Tajikistan at present, is the Project on Adaptation to Climate Change and Mitigation of its Effects in the Aral Sea Basin. This project is being implemented jointly with the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia and funded by the World Bank. The project budget is $ 8.5 million for Tajikistan.
