Uzbekistan plans to join the Hague Conference on Private International Law by the end of this year, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
On June 18-24 of this year, a delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Justice Khudoyar Meliev participate in the 22nd diplomatic session of the Hague Conference on Private International Law, which takes place in the Netherlands.
The message of the Foreign Ministry said that the procedure for Uzbekistan’s accession to the conference began in March 2019. Following the results of the 22nd diplomatic session, the Hague Conference is expected to adopt the Convention on the recognition and enforcement of decisions of foreign courts in civil or commercial matters.
“During the visit, it is planned to hold a number of bilateral meetings, in particular with the leadership of the Hague Conference on Private International Law, also the Permanent Court of Arbitration,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The Hague Conference on Private International Law was established in 1893 and is one of the oldest intergovernmental organizations. Its goal is to promote the gradual unification of the norms of private international law. Currently, 82 states of the world are members of the organization.
