Net inflows of foreign direct investment in Uzbekistan in 2018 amounted to US $ 624 million, which is 3 times less compared with the figures for 2017, reports the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

This decrease in investment inflows is due to an increase in the volume of repatriation of investments, which amounted to $ 1 billion in 2018 ($ 524 million in 2017). Significant amounts of funds in 2017 were directed by foreign investors to carry out construction and installation work in order to organize the extraction of mineral resources.

Reinvestment of income by foreign investors in 2018 amounted to 693 million dollars, which is 217 million dollars more than in 2017. Moreover, the volume of net portfolio investment by foreign investors increased from $ 3 million in 2017 to $ 13 million in 2018.
