A project worth 105.5 million dollars is implemented in Shargun

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with activities carried out at Shargun coal mine in Sariasiya district, reports the press service od Uzbek government.

In accordance with the resolution of the Head of the state of March 7 this year, the management system of Uzbekcoal JSC was improved, a number of measures for sustainable development of the coal industry are being implemented.

Coal in Shargun stands out for its high quality and rich deposits. Currently, a project worth 105.5 million dollars is being implemented. As a result of this project, designed for 2017-2020 and implemented jointly with Chinese partners, 900 thousand tons of coal per year will be mined starting from 2021. 600 people will be employed. Coal supplies to Angren and New Angren thermal power plants, cement plants, the population and other consumers will increase.

Currently, a mine is being laid to the main deposits of the field. 2 kilometers of the tunnel is already laid, after another 1.5 kilometers access to the main area of coal deposits will be provided, the volume of which is estimated at 33 million tons.

The Head of the state has been provided with information on the main directions of coal mining development in Surkhandarya region.

– There is no such qualitative coal anywhere else. We need to use it effectively, wisely and according to science, for the good of our people, – said Uzbek President.
