The first metro line will be built in Dushanbe, Tajikistan by 2040 and it will be above-ground, Asia Plus reports.
According to a source, now the city authorities are also considering the possibility of building underground sections of the future metro. "Experts are exploring what problems and obstacles may arise during the construction of underground branches of the metro in the city", - noted in the metropolitan administration.
Expected directions of the future metro are also being studied. Some residents of the city have already proposed the construction of subway lines from the airport to the Korvon market and from the circus to the Zarafshon microdistrict.
In addition, this metro will be the third in Central Asia. Today, the subway operates in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent and in Kazakhstan, Almaty. Metro in Tashkent was built in the Soviet era, and in Almaty the first line was launched in 2011. There are plans to build a subway in Bishkek.
