The discussion covered issues of further development of Paralympic sports in the country and the world, as well as details of holding the World Championship in Para Powerlifting “Astana-2019” this year in Kazakhstan. It was noted that this world-class large-scale social and sports project will give a new impetus to the development of Para Powerlifting in Kazakhstan.
As a competitive discipline, powerlifting includes three exercises: squats with a barbell on top of the shoulder blades, bench press lying on a horizontal bench, barbell pull, which together determine the qualification of the athlete. Para Powerlifting is a competition among athletes with disabilities.
The World Championship in Para Powerlifting, which will be held in Astana from June 29 to July 6, is the final licensed competition before the Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020. The competition will be attended by 400 athletes from 90 countries.
