Children protection department might be created in Kyrgyzstan, reports the 24kg news agency. This was proposed by the the Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Altynai Omurbekova.
"It is necessary to work out the issue of creating a child protection department at the Ministry of Labor and Social Development as a body responsible for implementation of the child protection policy and social work service for child protection at the local level", - noted the Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan at a meeting on the prevention of cruel treatment and violence against children.
She noted that information about violence against children with a tragic outcome regularly appeared in the media.
"People whom parents leave their children are not able to educate and adequately take care of them. There are people consuming alcoholic beverages among those with whom the children are left. As a result, children become victims of domestic violence", - said Altynai Omurbekova.
According to her, the lack of a proper system for detection, responding and monitoring of the situation with children left without parental care shows the imperfection of the protection system, the lack of systematic work of ministries and departments in detection of children left without parental care and in difficult situations.
In addition, she mentined that it was necessary to develop a single, effective approach to solving the problem of preventing ill-treatment and violence against children, and to begin work on introducing changes to the relevant regulatory legal acts.
