Immigrants from Central Asia were arrested, who prepared the terror attacks in Almaty.
According to the National Security Committee, a group of attack suspects were detained in Almaty on January 10.
“According to the investigators, the detainees acted on the instructions and under the supervision of the extremist group Islamic State (IG) militants abroad. The use of explosive devices and the subsequent armed attack was planned to be carried out in Almaty, in places of mass gathering of civilians”, - says in the committee. In addition, the press service reported that investigative activities are continuing.
Citizenship and the names of the suspects in the message spread by the press service are not specified, but it is said that people from Central Asia suspected of preparing terrorist acts in Kazakhstan were detained. Moreover, on the accompanying press release photo captured six detainees.
In addition, at the place of temporary residence of the suspects, the components “for the manufacture of high-power improvised explosive devices”, as well as firearms and their ammunition, were allegedly seized.
