The EU transferred a 6.5 million euro grant to the Central Treasury of the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic to support the social protection sector, reports the press service of the European Union in the Kyrgyz Republic.
“This is the second payment of 26 million euros allocated by the EU to the budget support program to help the government of the Kyrgyz Republic implement reforms in the field of social protection,” the message reads.
The first payment of 4.25 million euros was made at the beginning of 2016. The final payment under the program is expected at the end of 2019.
The main goal of the support from the European Union is to expand the range and quality of social services, especially for children at risk, in implementing state policies on child protection, as defined in the Code on Children adopted in May 2012, to support basic reforms and successes achieved in the field of social assistance under previous programs, also ensuring their continuity.
