Kazakhstan-Peruvian Political Consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, reports the press service of Kazakh MFA.

Participants welcomed strengthening cooperation and progressive development of dialogue between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru on the Establishment of a Mechanism of Political Consultations that was signed in Lima in 2017.

A wide range of issues of bilateral and multilateral partnership were discussed during the consultations, including broadening the legal framework of cooperation, simplification of the visa regime, intensification of trade and economic relations, education and people-to-people ties between Kazakhstan and Peru.

The Director General for Asia and Oceania Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, Elard Escala, noted the importance that Peru attaches to cooperation with Kazakhstan and expressed hope that Astana will become a hub for promotion of Peru's cooperation with Central Asia.

In order to strengthen trade and economic relations, the Director of the Department of Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Bulat Sugurbayev, proposed to intensify partnership between business communities of Kazakhstan and Peru by exchanging business missions. The parties also noted prospects of development of contacts between the regional trading blocs – the Eurasian Economic Union and the Pacific Alliance.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Diplomatic Academy of Peru and the Memorandum of Understanding between National Company “Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary” and the Space Agency of Peru were signed within the framework of the Political Consultations.

In conclusion of the meeting the parties agreed to organize the next round of Kazakhstan-Peruvian Political Consultations in Lima in 2019.
