Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov held a meeting with the head of the Syrian Government delegation, the representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari and members of delegation within the next round of the Astana process, reports press service of the MFA of Kazakhstan.

The same day, Kairat Abdrakhmanov met with Syrian opposition opposition delegation led by Ahmad al-Toma. The agenda of the talks included the current situation in the region, including the prospects for the final settlement of the long-term conflict in the Idlib region, as well as the formation of the Constituional Committee for Syria and operational implementation.

"We express our gratitude to the President Nursultan Nazarbayev for the fact that he proposed a dialogue platform, which is the only effective mechanism for peace in Syria", - said al Jaafari.

During the meeting with the Opposition delegation Al-Toma noted the role of the Astana process and noted that the talks in Astana were a very effective tool for resolving the Syrian crisis.
