On November 19, 2018, the fifth round of Uzbekistan – Switzerland political consultations was held in Bern, reports press service of Uzbek government.
Delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dilshod Akhatov, and the delegation of the Swiss Confederation was led by Deputy State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Krystyna Marty Lang.
The state and perspective directions of intensification of bilateral relations in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres were discussed.
The sides confirmed their mutual interest in preparation and successful conduction of the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Switzerland in 2019.
Special attention was paid to deepening cooperation in trade, economic, investment and financial fields. The sides emphasized readiness of the parties to diversify mutual deliveries of goods and services, develop joint investment projects, and widely involve business representatives of the two countries in cooperation. In this context, a proposal was considered for holding the eighth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in the first half of next year.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, at the meeting, views were also exchanged on key aspects of regional and international issues.
