1899 Tajiks fought on the side of the Islamic State terrorist group In Syria and Iraq. This was reported by the deputy head of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Mansurdjon Umarov.

According to Umarov, Tajik citizens travel to Syria and Iraq through Turkey. They flied to Turkey via Moscow, Bishkek, Dubai and Baku. According to him, now hundreds of members of their family are in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. "After the soldiers die, their wives and children are attracted by other terrorist organizations", - noted Umarov.

The Tajik authorities returned more than 80 citizens from Syria and Iraq to the country.
